Printing, according to Acton

Printing gave a broader series of reader admission to information and enable later generation to build on the academic achievement of previous ones. Printing, according to Acton in his talk On the learning of the past (1895), gave "pledge that the work of the resurgence would end, that what was printed would be accessible to every one, to such an occultation of information and dreams as had miserable the Middle Age would never recur, that not a thought would be mislaid". Online Printing was influential in altering the scenery of reading within culture.
