According to Hewlett-Packard's Executive Vice President Vyomesh Joshi, the printing market is liability just fine, remains "healthy," and is on track for a recovery in 2010.

"2009 was a difficult year designed for printing hardware," Joshi said. "But supplies sales are fine. What that resources is that printing is healthy -- even with economic pressure, customers are still printing the contented."

HP is the world's largest printer maker, but has posted five quarters of declining sales in its most gainful business, BusinessWeek.com reports. Unfazed, Joshi says he plans to win market share from competitors, such as Lexmark and Kodak, while at the same time decoration costs. His objective is to drive profit margins to 15-17 percent in 2010.

Zink Imaging is announcing nowadays that it has launched its second-generation technology for printing without ink cartridges.

The move shows that the Bedford, Mass.-based business is making fixed progress with a new technology that represents one of the main changes in printing since the commercialization of the inkjet printer in the 1990s.

Zink’s new engine intended for printing allows for bigger paper sizes than the 2 inches by 3 inches that present Zink-based printers use. The original one allows for 3 x 4 inch and 4 x 6 inch paper sizes.

Zink uses paper that is fixed by yellow, magenta and cyan dye crystals. Upon printing, the paper passes through an intense surface and the ink dyes are melted to create an image on the paper.
